Summary
City Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem Victor Gonzales was the honored recipient of the Alex Briseno Excellence and Leadership Award at the Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials (AHMO) reception on October 27, 2010 during the annual Texas Municipal League conference. In 2009, the AHMO created the award in an effort to promote Hispanic leadership within the Texas Municipal League's member cities. The AHMO Board named the award for Mr.Alex Briseno because Mr. Briseno has been a pioneer in the promotion of Hispanic leadership throughout his career as a champion of education, a mentor and a consensus builder. The AHMO Board was pleased to lend Mr. Briseno's name to this award and honor him as the first recipient of the award in December 2009 and to honor Mr. Gonzales as the second recipient of this prestigious award in October of 2010. A representative of the AHMO will be in attendance to present the award to Mr. Gonzales at the November 9, 2010, City Council meeting.
