Title
Presentation regarding Earth Day and earth-friendly initiatives.
Summary
In celebration of Earth Day on April 22, the Parks & Recreation Department would like to highlight some of the earth-friendly initiatives that it has participated in over the last year.
Most recently, the city partnered with the Royal Point Homeowners' Association (HOA) on Saturday April 21 to plant a dozen trees in Royal Pointe Park. The tree planting celebrated Earth Day and helped the neighborhood enhance their neighborhood park.
In addition to this tree planting, Parks and Recreation participated in other earth-friendly programs such as the Drop-By-Drop Landscape Rebate Program, Keep Texas Beautiful’s Keep Texas Waterways Clean, Keep Texas Beautiful’s Fall Sweep Clean-Up, Adopt-A-Trail, Nature Pfest, Texas Arbor Day tree plantings, fulfilling Tree City USA requirements for 11 consecutive years, Pfind a Trash Can campaign and volunteer clean-up days throughout the year.
All of these efforts combined involved 4,452 volunteers and 15,583 hours of service in the current fiscal year.
