Authorizing the City Manager to approve the purchase of a 3-D Laser Scanner from FARO Technologies, Inc. in the amount of $77,999 using budgeted and awarded fiscal year JAG Grant funds and utilizing the U.S. General Services Administration Cooperative Purchasing Program (GSA).

Summary

For fiscal year 2021, the U.S. Department of Justice awarded the City of Pflugerville an Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) for the purchase of a 3-D Laser Scanning system for crime scene analysis equipment that will virtually reconstruct a crime/traffic scene and capture valuable information that otherwise may not have been evident.  A 3-D laser scanner will be utilized to rapidly gather data at the scene, preserve the data collected, and re-create the crime/traffic scene in a more realistic way that conventional photographs and video cannot. The FARO Technologies quote is being provided to the City Council separately from the agenda.
