Discuss the draft Downtown East Planned Unit Development.
Summary
The Downtown East project consists of approximately 32 acres located at the northwest corner of FM 685 and Pecan Street. The project is proposed as a mixed use development which will be established through a new Planned Unit Development. As currently envisioned, the project will be developed in phases with phase one including the City Hall, the Multi-Generational Recreation Center, a public plaza space, over 10,000 square feet of integrated commercial, the Main Street extension from Railroad Avenue to FM685, and the supporting public utility infrastructure necessary for the first phase of the development. Future phases are anticipated to include additional internal public road connections, opportunities for residential development, non-residential space which may include office, retail, restaurant, hotel or similar commercial type land uses, and trail improvements within public open space areas.
This item is intended to provide a brief overview of the proposed project as envisioned in the draft Planned Unit Development and receive feedback from the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Projected Future Action
June 6, 2024: Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing and consideration of the rezoning request.
