Title
Discussion and consider action to approve the design and construction drawings, as required by the May 2023 agreement between the City and PCDC, pertaining to the City of Pflugerville's Multi Generational Recreation Center.
Summary
In 2023 PCDC Board approved a self-supporting agreement in reference to Resolution 2022-007 for the allocation of funding in support of the Development of the Downtown East Project.
As part of the resolution related to funding, construction documents are required to be approved by the PCDC. City Staff has been working with the design team since action by the PCDC, to prepare documents that would facilitate the construction of the new multi-generational recreation center that will be located in the Downtown East Project at the corner of Main Street and FM685.
The design is now in the Design Development (DDs) stage which is the final stage prior to completing final documents for permitting and construction. DDs are detailed plans that show how the building will look and function. While there are still some details to work through, the DDs provide the exact size of rooms, the placement of walls, windows, doors, and other parts of the building. They show what materials will be used and how the building’s systems, like plumbing, heating, and electrical, will work. DDs also refine the design to make sure it is possible to build and will meet safety, legal, and functional standards.
The multi-generational recreation center will host a variety of programming that will serve the growing Pflugerville community. The facility will include four high school sized basketball courts, that can also function for pickleball and volleyball, a pool, indoor turf field, cardio and fitness area, classrooms, multi generational lounge, child watch and indoor play ground, event space, an indoor walking/adventure track and retail space.
