Summary
Blue Santa is a joint effort of the Pflugerville Police Department and the citizens of Pflugerville aimed at providing holiday support for families in need. Currently, donations are accepted by the City of Pflugerville and held in a special revenue account. Expenses are paid from the account for the purchases of clothing, gifts, food and supplies to support the program. As of March 31, 2021, the account has a balance of approximately $8,950.
The City desires to move the management of the Blue Santa program to the newly created Pflugerville Blue Santa Corporation, a 501(c)(3) registered with the IRS and State of Texas. Doing so would allow for corporations and others who donate to receive a tax deduction for their donation.

Staff recommends transferring the balance of the City of Pflugerville Blue Santa program to the Pflugerville Blue Santa Corporation. With this transfer, applications, donations and program expenses for Blue Santa will no longer be handled by the City of Pflugerville. The City would continue to participate through volunteering time to help ensure the program is successful for many years to come.
