Title
Proclamation declaring the week of April 10 to April 16, 2011 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week.
Summary
Each year, the second full week of April is dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators. This recognition week was first conceived by Ms. Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County, California Sheriff’s Office in 1981 and was introduced to Congress in 1991, 1993, and 1994, after which it became an annual recognition. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week celebrates the hard work of all 9-1-1 dispatchers, their sacrifices, and devotion to law enforcement and their local communities. The Pflugerville Police Department currently has 14 full-time communication personnel. This team of professionals cares for the Pflugerville community and works diligently around the clock to provide service for the citizens as well as the police officers. Mayor Coleman is scheduled to recognize the Pflugerville Police Department’s Communication Team and to present this proclamation at this meeting.
