Title
Approving a professional services agreement with Austin Traffic Signal Construction Co., Inc. for Traffic Signal Maintenance in an amount not to exceed $405,500 for FY25, and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.
Summary
This marks the second year of our initial 24-month contract, which includes an optional 12-month renewal. The services agreement was approved in FY24, and we are requesting the expenditure of funds not to exceed $405,500.00 for FY25 to ensure the continuation of the contract's original term. Historically, the city has utilized traffic signal contractors on an as needed basis for emergency repairs and response however routine maintenance was not being performed. To establish a Traffic Signal Maintenance Program with routine maintenance, emergency repairs and response procedures, and the ability to have equipment installed when needed, staff worked with Kimley-Horn Engineering Consultants to establish a program and scope of services . This effort resulted in identifying City Signal Maintenance and operational needs and a Request for Proposal (RFP) document in order to procure a maintenance and operation agreement that is most economically efficient while offering the highest value to the city. The Traffic Signal Maintenance RFP was first advertised in 2021 which began the city’s traffic signal maintenance program.
