Approving the appointment of Ms. Carol Barrett as Planning Director.
Summary
Section 4.06 of the City Charter specifies that the City Manager shall appoint the head of each administrative department, subject to the approval of the City Council. The City Manager has offered the position of Planning Director for the City of Pflugerville to Ms. Barrett and she has accepted the position, subject to the approval of the City Council.
Over 120 individuals applied for the position of Planning Director. Multiple staff assisted the City Manager in the selection and interview process. Following this process, Ms. Barrett was found to be by far the most qualified candidate. She has an impressive resume of planning experience and education and has proven her initiative and vision for the future in various leadership positions for multiple jurisditions. She was also inducted into the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) College of Fellows in 1999. Upon approval she is scheduled to start August 1.
