Title
Approving an agreement for Emergency Vehicle Preemption with Paradigm Traffic Systems in the amount of $750,400, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
Emergency vehicle preemption (EVP) is a system used by emergency vehicles required to respond to emergency calls, which often requires high speeds and crossing through intersections. Emergency vehicle preemption is designed to give emergency response vehicles a green light on their approach to a signalized intersection while providing a red light to conflicting approaches, leading to safer pursuits, less vehicle incidents, and personal injury. The city of Pflugerville has yet to utilize a preemption system and staff believe this would be a great asset to the city that supports the safe city pillar.
This item includes the purchase of the units, configuration, and installation, as well as a 10-year warranty and support services.
