Title

1.) Executive Session Item: Discussion of personnel matters regarding evaluation of work hours, duties and compensation of the Municipal Judge pursuant to Chapter 551.074 of the Texas Government Code. 2.) Open Session Item: Discuss and consider action regarding evaluation of work hours, duties and compensation of the Municipal Judge.

 

Summary

At the request of Judge Farren Sheehan, this item has been included on the agenda to allow for discussion and action regarding the evaluation of work hours duties and compensation of the Municipal Judge.

 

City Council is expected to retire to executive session on the item for discussion of personnel matters pursuant to Chapter 551.074 of the Texas Government Code.  

 

City of Pflugerville’s Home Rule Charter provides in Section 4.02 that the City Council shall appoint a municipal judge, who shall be an attorney licensed to practice law in Texas and a resident of the City and shall fix the compensation for that office and that all municipal judges shall serve at the will of the Council and shall receive compensation fixed by the City Council.

 

Prior City Council Action

City Council took action on April 24, 2018 to appoint Farren Sheehan as Municipal Judge with an annual salary of $38,701 for a term of two years.


City Council took action on November 24, 2020 to reappoint Farren Sheehan as Municipal Judge with an annual salary of $39,862 for a term of two years.

 

City Council took action on May 23, 2023 to extend Farren Sheehan's appointment for an additional two-year term beginning May 23, 2023 and ending May 23, 2025 with a 5% pay increase for an annual salary of $41,855.
