Summary
The Parks and Recreation Department is seeking to enter into a professional services agreement with Studio 16:19 for landscape architecture services relating to a required Conditional Letter of Map Revision (CLOMR) to FEMA for approval on play enhancements at Gilleland Creek Park. A CLOMR study is a FEMA requirement when a project includes properties in the designated floodway to ensure that any enhancements have no negative impacts downstream.
The projects at Gilleland Creek Park include the completion of the playground area, a seating area within the Gilleland Creek Pool complex, including shade canopies, picnic tables, artificial turf, and play mounds, and the replacement of natural turfgrasses with artificial turfgrasses inside the pool complex for increased sustainability and improved maintenance. These improvements are located within the floodway of Gilleland Creek and therefore approval from FEMA through the CLOMR process is required.
The Gilleland Creek Park projects align with City Council’s strategic objective to foster community engagement through vibrant parks and recreation services.
