Summary
This resolution authorizes the City Manager to apply for and accept, if awarded, a Justice Assistance - Byrne Grant Program award for $20,190.00 from the Office of the Governor for the purchase of fifteen “The WRAP” restraint systems with soft helmets. This equipment provides for a safer and more reliable option for restraining combative, violent and/or potentially dangerous subjects. To access the grant funding, City Council must authorize the City Manager to apply for and accept the grant award if received.
Approval is also requested to authorize the City Manager to sign all necessary documents upon final approval of the City Attorney.
Prior City Council Action
City Council approved a grant application in January 2021 for a Justice Assistance - Byrne Grant and the application was approved and later funded for fiscal year 2022.
