Awarding a construction contract for the Kelly Lane Street Rehabilitation Project (from Moorlynch Drive to Weiss Lane) to Smith Contracting Co., Inc. and authorizing the City Manager to execute the contract agreement and authorizing the City Engineer to issue the Notice of Award and Notice to Proceed. Four (4) bids were received on May 11, 2012 and Smith Contracting Co., Inc. was the lowest responsive bidder in the amount of $571,691 (to include base bid plus City selected Alternate #1).
Summary
The Kelly Lane Street Rehabilitation project extends from Moorlynch Drive east approximately 1 mile to Weiss Lane. The project improvements include cement stabilization and 4-inches of HMAC on the existing Kelly Lane roadway, pavement markings, new left turn lanes for Jakes Hill Rd. and Hidden Lake Blvd. and other work as described in the plans, specifications, and bid documents. Construction is expected to commence on July 5, 2012 and final completion is anticipated for August 19, 2012 (45 calendar day contract). The attached “Kelly Lane Street Rehabilitation Tabulation of Bids” includes the base bid and alternate bid values in which the lowest responsive bidder was Smith Contracting Co., Inc. The total amount is $571,691.
Status
The project was advertised for bids on April 25, 2012 and May 2, 2012. Bids were opened on May 11, 2012.
Deadline for City Council Action
Staff is requesting approval on June 12, 2012 to maintain project schedule.
Fiscal Impact
The project funding is derived from a variety of sources including:
· Remaining Public Works Overlay funds
· Remaining General Capital Reserve Budget
· Kelly Lane Escrow funds
