Summary
The cloth media used as final treatment at the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant has degraded to the point of losing its effectiveness in removing suspended solids before discharging the effluent product to the creek. This has caused the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant to have higher than normal Total Suspended Solids results and could have more detrimental effects in the future if not rectified. These higher than normal Total Suspended Solids results cause the WWTP to have excursions on the monthly Discharge Monitoring Report which is why time is of the essence to move quickly on the filter media replacement to limit the higher than normal Total Suspended Solids from causing further excursions. Aqua-Aerobic Systems, Inc is a sole source provider of the filter media cloth equipment that is being replaced.
The purchase of the filter media cloth equipment will require an amendment to the budget that will be included in the next request for budget amendments.
