Summary
This agenda item requests approval to award a cleaning and televising, smoke testing, and manhole inspections contract with National Water Main Cleaning Company in the amount of $214,335.56 associated with the Rehabilitation of Wastewater Lines project (WW2306). This item supports the infrastructure pillar of the Strategic Plan.
As part of Project No. WW2306 Rehabilitation of Wastewater Lines, the City desires to rehabilitate the wastewater lines along Great Basin Avenue and within the Gatlinburg neighborhood. The gravity sewers are predominantly PVC pipe, over 30 years old, and have seen significant issues with both inflow and infiltration (I&I). The contract includes cleaning, televising, and smoke testing bid package for approximately 25,792 linear feet (LF) of sewers ranging in size from 6”-24”, and approximately 80 sewer manholes. The results will be evaluated and used to assemble a preliminary engineering report recommending the types of rehabilitation needed.
The contract was procured through BuyBoard and a bid was received on February 5th, 2025. The cleaning and televising investigations, smoke testing, and manhole inspections are expected within 60 days of notice to proceed.
Prior City Council Action
On August 13, 2024, City Council approved a Professional Services Agreement with Quiddity Engineering in the amount of $174,345.00 for preliminary engineering services associated with the Rehabilitation of Wastewater Lines project.
