Summary
Pflugerville was one of 15 cities in Texas to receive a $30,000 grant from the National Fitness Campaign through the Texas Recreation and Parks Society (TRAPS). This TRAPS grant covers a portion of the overall cost of $180,000 for the purchase and installation of the outdoor fitness court. Following grant approval from TRAPS, Parks staff requested a $150,000 grant from PCDC to cover the remaining cost associated with this amenity as part of PCDCs annual commitment to fund City park projects and received unanimous approval from their Board of Directors on November 17, 2021.
Not only will this project enhance our trail system and quality of life by providing a unique outdoor fitness opportunity, but the design also allows for branding which could be used as gateway signage depending on the location. We currently plan to locate this amenity along E Pecan Street pending final site feasibility analysis, at which point a formal timeline will be established for installation.
