Presentation by the City of Pflugerville Police Department Animal Control to Ms. Lissa Slovacek, Ms. Heather Shaddock, and Ms. Lynn Vaughan of the Pflugerville Pfurry Pfriends in appreciation of their contribution to the recent improvements to the dog runs at the Pflugerville Animal Shelter.
Summary
In their first year, Pflugerville's Pfurry Pfriends, a non-profit group, raised funds for improvements to the Pflugerville Animal Shelter. The Pfriends paid for the installation, modification and expansion of dog runs at the Shelter. Working with the Pflugerville Police Department Animal Control staff, the Pfurry Pfriends transformed Pflugerville's three existing dog runs into a fully-gated, seven pen amenity complete with one 40 ft by 50 ft run and six 10 ft by 20 ft runs which provide a place for animals to be outside for additional exercise and play. In addition, the Pfurry Pfriends purchased new trash cans, pooper scoopers, and planted trees.
The Pfurry Pfriends also assist with pet adoptions by posting Pflugerville Animal Shelter animals online on Petfinder and Craigslist, and sending the Pet of the Week to the Pflugerville Pflag. Through a partnership with Pflugerville's PETCO, Pflugerville Animal Shelter cats are cared for at PETCO which provides additional exposure to potential new families. The cats live at PETCO and are fed, exercised and adopted through assistance from Pfurry Pfriends and other shelter volunteers.
