Approving a resolution supporting the nomination and appointment of Mr. Brandon Wade, City Manager, as a voting member of Region K , also known as the Lower Colorado Regional Water Planning Group (LCRWPG).
Summary
The Lower Colorado River Water Planning Group (LCRWPG) is one of 16 regional water planning groups established by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) to help develop and revise a comprehensive water plan for Texas through 2060. The LCRWPG is comprised of 25 voting members representing various interest groups who are responsible for developing and refining the long range water plan for the Central Texas region. The LCRWPG meets quarterly in Austin and staff attended the meeting held in October. The LCRWPG is composed of all or parts of 14 counties, from Mills County southeast to the Gulf Coast. Most of Region K lies in the Colorado River Basin. Further information about Region K is available at www.regionk.org.
Region K is currently in the 2011-2016 planning cycle for the 2016 Region K Water Plan. While reviewing the 2011 plan, it became clear that it would be advantageous for Pflugerville, the second largest city in the region behind Austin, to more fully participate in the water planning for our region. This agenda item is a resolution supporting the nomination of City Manager Brandon Wade to the LCRWPG as the representative of the small municipalities interest group. Deadline for City Council Action
The deadline for nominations is December 31, 2012 so action is required at this City Council meeting.

There is no fiscal impact as a result of this action.
