Approving a construction agreement with Andale Construction, Inc. in the amount of $363,300.70 for placement of HA5, a pavement preservation application and part of the Pavement Maintenance Program, on designated City streets and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
On February 11, 2020 City Council was presented the 2019 Pavement Report. In that presentation Staff recommended a plan that was outlined in the report that with an approach where 20% of the approved street maintenance budget be allocated towards preservation of roadways and the remaining 80% be allocated towards rehabilitation. With a total budget of approximately $1,850,000, this scenario would allow $370,000 for preservation and $1,480,000 for rehabilitation of existing roadway.
In addition, at this meeting different pavement preservation and rehabilitation techniques were discussed which included the utilization of HA5.
The preservation piece of the Pavement Maintenance Plan utilizing HA5 as the preservation technique is to be done by an approved contractor for areas with roadways that have OCI (Overall Condition Index) scores that fall between 75-85.
HA5 is popular and effective preservation method for roadways utilized by many Cities including the surrounding Cities of Georgetown, Round Rock, Austin and now Pflugerville. Last year was the City’s first year utilizing this method and it was a successful project that has proven to be effective. This proposed project will take approximately 14 days to complete.
