Discuss and consider action to approve a resolution establishing goals for Downtown East.
Summary
The City continues to work with our consultant teams to further the vision for the Downtown East development. Located at the northwest corner of FM 685 and E. Pecan Street, the 29-acre parcel was acquired by the City of Pflugerville in December, 2021. The parcel, being larger than needed to accommodate municipal needs, would be developed in the context of a public private partnership (P3) that continues to be investigated. Municipal needs proposed for the site include the proposed city hall, the proposed multi-generational recreation center as well as necessary parking, amenities, infrastructure and trails and open space. The remainder will be contemplated for a variety of market uses that conform to the proposed goals and complement the city aspects of the project resulting in a holistic development for many years to come.
Adoption of this resolution and associated goals helps provide a framework for consistent communication and engagement with a variety of stakeholders.
The first public meeting is scheduled for April 27, 2022 from 6-8pm at 100 E. Main Street, Suite 500 (City Council Chambers).
Prior City Council Action
Professional Services Agreements were approved by City Council January 25 and February 28, 2022 for owner's project representatives and advisor services.
