Summary
On March 19, 2014 the Pflugerville Police Department received notification of the award of Recognized Law Enforcement Agency from the Texas Police Chiefs Association Law Enforcement Recognition program.

"Pflugerville Police Department has always considered itself to be one of the best in the state, yet earning this Recognized Law Enforcement Agency designation provided for an independent review of the Police Department's operations and proudly assures the citizens of Pflugerville that our department is conforming to an elevated level in serving the community," Police Chief Chuck Hooker said. "By mirroring best practices nationwide, your Pflugerville Police Department added additional training, improved documentation procedures and conducted a full department audit to achieve this honored accreditation."

Since 2006, the Recognition program has evaluated police departments' compliance with more than 165 best business practices in Texas law enforcement. These best practices were carefully developed by Texas law enforcement professionals to assist agencies in developing efficient and effective delivery of services, and the protection of individual’s rights. These best practices cover all aspects of law enforcement operations including use of force, protection of citizen rights, vehicle pursuits, property and evidence management, and patrol and investigative operations.

The voluntary application process required the Pflugerville Police Department to conduct a critical self-review of the agency’s policies, procedures, facilities and operations. Beginning in April of 2012, the Department began the lengthy process to become a Recognized Law Enforcement Agency by preparing proofs of compliance for each of the Texas Law Enforcement Best Practices.
