Summary
The City of Pflugerville has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its fiscal year 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). This marks the eleventh consecutive year the City has received this award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management. The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
The GFOA established the Popular Annual Financial Reporting Awards Program (PAFR Program) to encourage and assist state and local governments to extract information from their comprehensive annual financial report to produce high quality popular annual financial reports. The popular annual financial report is specifically designed to be readily accessible and easily understandable to the general public and other interested parties without a background in public finance. The PAFR Program recognizes individual governments that are successful in achieving that goal. Popular annual financial reports submitted to the PAFR Program are reviewed by selected members of the GFOA professional staff and by outside reviewers with experience in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
