Approving a resolution adopting an annual annexation plan.
Summary
On May 14, 2013, at the joint meeting between the City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Planning and Zoning Commission presented their annual recommendation on the annexation plan as required per the City's Charter. This item reflects that recommendation.
The current annexation plan provides that the City has no plans to pursue annexation of any property, except for those areas that are exempt from annexation plan requirements as established by the Local Government Code. The proposed 2014-2017 annexation plan attached to this agenda item specifies annexation activities planned for that time period. The plan affirms that the City may pursue annexations that are voluntary or are otherwise exempt from the annexation requirements.
The above recommendation is supported by the policy direction of the 2030 Comprehensive Plan that growth for the city should be directed internally to the corporate limits in areas generally located west of the Weiss Lane corridor. This boundary was established in reference to the utility service area boundary along the Wilbarger drainage basin as it relates to water and wastewater master planning priorities.
