Title

Authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract for crack sealing services to Stripe It Up, the lowest responsible bidder of two bids, in the amount of $119,293.04.

Summary

The City of Pflugerville has used contractual crack sealing services in past years.  The original bid document which is attached to this agenda item listed six specific areas totalling 139.45 lane miles.  Due to the budgeted amount of $120,000 included in the fiscal year 2017 budget for this project, the bid document included a statement that the City could elect to increase or decrease the amount of lane miles depending upon the total of the bid.  As you can see from the bid tabulation sheet, Stripe It Up was the low bidder on the initial bid listing the six specific areas.  Stripe It Up used a unit price of $1,302.89 per lane mile while the other bidder, Bennet Paving, had costs per lane mile ranging from $5,000 - $5,300.  Staff worked with Stripe It Up to decrease the amount of lane miles to conform to the budget for contractual crack sealing as shown on the revised bid document.  References, insurance and other information requested in the bid packet have been checked and verified by Public Works staff.

The lowest responsive bid for crack sealing services was $181,688.02 by Stripe It Up, with the revised bid of $119,293.04.  By the end of the fiscal year, all of the areas listed on the original bid document will be crack sealed by a combination of the Stripe It Up services and inhouse crack sealing.
