Approving the selection of Freese and Nichols, Inc. for long-term professional engineering services associated with capital improvements and operations at the City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant and authorizing the City Manager to enter into negotiations regarding a scope of work and fee proposal.
Summary
The City of Pflugerville solicited requests for qualifications from engineering firms for consulting services for operations and capital improvements for the City’s wastewater treatment plant. A copy of the Request for Statement of Qualifications is attached.
Once selected, the engineering firm will be called upon from time-to-time to assist the City in evaluating operational issues with the plant, permitting assistance, troubleshooting of plant problems, and for planning, designing and assisting with construction management of capital improvements, operational improvements, plant expansions, and maintenance contracts at the City’s wastewater treatment plant.
Work activities will be handled through work authorizations. The City intends to begin a significant expansion of the wastewater treatment plant within the initial term of this Agreement.
Status
City staff received six (6) proposals. A review team of Public Works staff scored the proposals and interviews were conducted with the top two (2) scoring firms. Freese and Nichols, Inc. was selected as the most qualified firm for this project.
Projected Future City Council Action
A future agenda item will be scheduled to approve the agreement. Staff anticipates negotiations to take place in the next month and a contract will be presented for Council review and consideration in August.
Fiscal Impact
