Summary
As part of the ongoing construction project, while excavating existing water mains and other utilities, it was found that some existing infrastructure was installed differently that record plans illustrated. In order to allow for the installation of new water mains to not to be in conflict with existing utilities, additional bend and fittings had to be incorporated into the project as well as minor extensions to tunneling and encasement pipe. The City asked the contractor to incorporate such materials into the construction to allow for progress on the project and submit a change order to reconcile the additional quantities. The City inspector, City Engineer and design Engineer all concurred on the additional materials necessary prior to the contractor installing.

The second part of change order #2 is to incorporate a 20” water stub to the proposed City elevated storage tank site on Wilke Ridge Lane. The City identified the site for the future elevated storage tank after the NTCMUD#5 Phase 1 contractor installed all water line along Wilke Ridge. The City requested that the contractor provide them a cost for the additional water stub. This change order included adding a new tee to the existing water main, and providing a 20” water stub and appurtenances for connection to the future elevated tank.

Lastly, the change order includes consolidation of quantities with respect to street open cuts. The contractor desired to conduct all open street cuts via tunneling for the water main project. Tunneling is more expensive than open cutting, but the contractor requested that they be paid the same unit prices as an open cut. This Change Order reflects the deductions and additions of those quantities so that future pay applications get processed efficiently...
