Summary
The proposed cost share agreement with Northtown Ph. 1, LLC was identified in the Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) that was approved through the development review process for Basis Charter School, located at the northeast corner of Wells Branch Parkway and 10th Street. The TIA identified improvements that were needed to the overall transportation system in this area for the school, which included the installation of a traffic signal at Wells Branch Parkway and 10th Street, as well as associated pedestrian components, pavement markings, and signal timing upgrades. The TIA also approved the pro-rata contribution that was necessary from the developer for those improvements, which was $251,800. With the improvements being necessary for the school, the Northtown development constructed the improvements identified in the TIA, which cost a total of $575,812, leaving $324,012 for the City's contribution to the project. These improvements were completed in June 2023.
A Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA) was conducted by Alliance Transportation Group (ATG) on November 4, 2020, identifying the need for a traffic signal at this intersection due to projected increases in traffic from the Northtown Phase 1 development - Basis Charter School.
This project supports the City’s Infrastructure pillar, promoting safe and efficient traffic management to accommodate future growth in the area.
