Summary
From December '24 to January '25, the City conducted a nationwide Call for Artists to purchase existing sculptures or commission new sculptures. The proposed “Nessie” sculpture aligns with the City’s promotional efforts and is proposed to be located at Lake Pflugerville.
Artist Statement (excerpt): “At its core, my work is an invitation-to see, to engage, to wonder, to smile. If I can add even a moment of joy, curiosity, or recognition to someone’s day, then I consider that a success.” (See attachment for full artist statement.)

The City will be responsible for pouring the concrete pad on which the sculpture will be placed.

Fiscal Impact
Approx. $42,500 funded through Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) revenue. Additional costs will be associated with the installation of the sculpture, estimated at $4,000.
