Title
Discussion regarding Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program for Program Year 2014.
Summary
The CDBG program provides annual grants on a formula basis to entitled communities to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons. The City of Pflugerville became an entitlement community in 2013. Staff will provide an update on the current projects related to the CDBG program and how the allocated funding is being utilized on activities for this first cycle. Projects include sidewalk and accessibility infrastructure along Edgemere Drive between Ramble Creek and Windermere Park, sidewalk improvements along the west side of Heatherwilde between Black Locust and Pfennig Lane, parks improvements at Windermere Park and a youth scholarship program. These projects were selected based on the needs identified in the Consolidated Plan and are projects anticipated to be completed during the 2014 CDBG Program Year which runs from October 2014 to September 2015.
