Discuss and consider action to award a construction contract for the 2019/2020 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Pavement Rehabilitation Project on Yellow Sage to Smith Paving, Inc the lowest responsible bidder of three (3) accepted bids received on May 20, 2021, in the amount of $267,062.16 and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.
Summary
City contracted with Dannenbaum Engineering Company - Austin, LLC for professional engineering services associated with the design, bidding and construction administration for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2019 Pavement Rehabilitation Program Project. This agreement included design services for the CBDG 2020 Pavement Rehabilitation program.
Bids were opened on May 20, 2021 and Smith Paving, Inc. was the lowest responsible bidder of three (3) bids received. This project was bid with a base bid using a pavement section meeting the new pavement design standard using lime-stabilization in the sub-grade, and a bid alternate with a pavement section using cement stabilization in the recycling of the existing road base. This project was designed prior to the implementation of the new pavement design standard and the bid alternate was the pavement section originally proposed by the design engineer.
Dannenbaum has recommended that the City proceed with the pavement rehabilitation of Yellow Sage using the base bid.
Prior City Council Action
City Council approved professional services supplemental agreement with Dannenbaum Engineering Company - Austin, LLC in the amount of $75,100.00 for professional engineering services associated with the design, bidding and construction administration for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) 2019 Pavement Rehabilitation Program Project on April 14, 2020.
