Authorize the City Manager to execute a contract for sludge hauling and disposal with Sheridan Environmental, LLC in the amount of $420 per load.
 
Summary
The City of Pflugerville staff solicited sealed bids for the hauling of sludge from the Central Wastewater Plant.  Advertisements were placed in the Pflugerville Pflag for two consecutive weeks; notice of the bid was on the City's website for the duration; and, companies who had expressed interest in this project were notified.  Two qualified bids were received:  Sheridan Environmental, LLC bid $420 per load; Southwaste Services, LLC bid $562 per load.  Wastewater staff has checked references.  Finance staff verified all information regarding insurance requirements.

Deadline for City Council Action
The bidders were notified that this item would be considered at this meeting.  The bid amounts are valid until March 22, 2011.
 
Projected Future City Council Action
None.
 
Fiscal Impact
The budget for sludge hauling and disposal is included in the Wastewater Treatment Plant department.  The amount of $150,000 is sufficient for sludge removal for the fiscal year 2011.
 
Staff Recommendation
Authorize the City Manager to execute a one year, with the possiblity of two annual renewals, contract  to Sheridan Environmental, LLC in the amount of $420 per load with an estimated annual load count of 340.
