Review representation and discuss and consider action to change City of Pflugerville representation on the Capital Area Council of Governments (CAPCOG) General Assembly.
Summary
The City of Pflugerville is over 50,000 in population and therefore qualifies for three positions on the CAPCOG General Assembly. Currently, Mayor Victor Gonzales, Mayor Pro Tem Omar Peña and Councilmember Mike Heath are appointed to serve on the General Assembly as the City of Pflugerville representatives. This item has been included on the agenda to allow the City Council to consider its current appointments and change its representation, if desired.
Only members of the CAPCOG General Assembly can be appointed to the CAPCOG Executive Committee. The appointments to the CAPCOG Executive Committee are made by CAPCOG. Councilmember Heath currently serves on the CAPCOG Executive Committee.
Previous City Council Action
The City Council took action on November 22, 2016 to appoint Mayor Gonzales, Mayor Pro Tem Peña and Councilmember Heath to serve as the City of Pflugerville General Assembly representatives and reconfirmed these appointments on November 28, 2017.
