Title
Approving an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between Travis County and City of Pflugerville for 9-1-1 system related equipment, maintenance, services and training and authorizing the City Manager to execute same.
 
Summary
The purpose of this agreement is to allow Travis County to provide funding for the purchase of  9-1-1 system related equipment, maintenance, services and training to support its public safety answering point operations, benefiting both the City of Pflugerville and Travis County.  The type of equipment to be purchased is for recording both 9-1-1 calls and the City's radio talk groups.
 
The agreement has been reviewed and approved by the City Attorney.
 
Status
The project is ready for implementation following authorization by both the Pflugerville City Council and the Travis County Commissioners.
 
Prior City Council Action
The equipment for this project was approved for purchase in the fiscal year 2014 budget. The total budgeted amount for both recording solutions is $93,622.
 
Deadline for City Council Action
Action is requested on January 28, 2014.
 
Fiscal Impact
Per this interlocal agreement, Travis County will provide funding totaling $91,791 towards this project.  The projected cost from Motorola is now $101,791, requiring the City to provide between $10,000 to a maximum of $15,000 to complete the project.  This interlocal will produce a savings of $91,791 for the City of Pflugerville related to the acquisition of this budgeted equipment. The effect on the fiscal year 2014 budget will be an estimated  savings of  $78,000+.
 
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of this Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with Travis County.
