Title

Approving an ordinance on second reading with the caption reading: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE, TEXAS AMENDING THE CITY OF PFLUGERVILLE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CHAPTER 151(A) AND (B)(6) OF CHAPTER 151 FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION TO REDESIGNATE THE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEERING DIRECTOR AS THE FLOODPLAIN ADMINISTRATOR AND REDESIGNATING THE PROPER STATE AGENCY FOR NOTIFICATION;  REPEALING AND REPLACING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT; CONTAINING A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary

Effective administration of the City of Pflugerville Flood Damage Prevention Regulations is the responsibility of the designated Floodplain Administrator as provided in Section 151.55 of the Code of Ordinances. The city's participation in the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) is voluntary and enables property owners to obtain flood insurance policies to complement their homeowner's or renter's insurance policies. Effective implementation of these regulations is a team effort, affecting various aspects of the development process but due to the nature and extent of sound floodplain administration in Pflugerville, it is more engineering oriented. In the Development Services Center, 3 staff currently have attained Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) status.  In Development Engineering, all of the engineers have or are pursuing certification.

The ordinance has been approved as to form by the City Attorney.
