Title

Approving a supplemental agreement #3 with Freese and Nichols, Inc. in the amount of $69,461 for professional engineering services associated with the purchase of an emergency generator at the Pfennig Pump Station for the Heatherwilde Elevated Storage Tank Project.

 

Summary
This amendment will include design, bid and construction phase services for the addition of a stand-by natural gas generator at the existing Pfennig Pump Station that is sized to run two of the existing larger pumps at the site.

 

The improvements will include installation of a new permanent stand-by generator that will be connected to the existing 480V Switchboard, and associated cables/conduit. 


The attached agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the City Attorney.

Status
City staff has negotiated with Freese and Nichols, Inc. to establish a scope of services, schedule and fee for this supplemental agreement.

 

Prior City Council Action

A professional engineering services contract was presented to Council and approved on November 25, 2014 for $67,570. A supplemental agreement #1 to extend the end date of the agreement was executed on June 25, 2015 and a supplemental agreement #2 was executed on August 10, 2015 to amend the agreement to modify the provisions for the scope of services, work schedule and compensation in the amount of $19,505.

 

Fiscal Impact

Funding for this project which was included as a part of the approved 5-Year Utility Capital Improvement Program in the fiscal year 2015-2016 budget will come from utility fund balance and the 2015 certificate of obligation issue.

 

Staff Recommendation

Staff recommends approval of the supplemental agreement #3 with Freese and Nichols, Inc. for professional engineering services associated with the Heatherwilde Elevated Storage Tank Project in the amount of $69,461.
