Summary
Following a facilities assessment by H.R. Gray earlier this year, staff recommended to the City Council to take steps necessary to alleviate crowding conditions with the City Hall complex by moving departments and redistributing others. As a result, the Planning, Building and Engineering departments will be relocating to space at 201B East Pecan Street. This is space that is owned by Travis County Emergency Services District #2 and was previously leased to Pflugerville ISD. This affords the three departments to be collocated in the space that exceeds 6,000 square feet.
Staff is excited about the change and the opportunity to have enhanced office space, but moreover, Pflugerville residents and customers of the Development Services Center will benefit from the combined operations and proximity to the Fire Marshall's office as well.
Status
The lease has been executed, and construction is anticipated to commence on October 3, 2011. Occupancy projected for early November.
