Title
Approving a supplemental agreement with Freese and Nichols, Inc. in the amount of $20,698 for professional engineering services associated with design, bidding, and construction administration of the Pfennig Pump Station and Ground Storage Project and authorizing the City Manager to execute the agreement.
Summary
This project will improve the City's pumping capacity so that we can better serve our water customers in the western part of Pflugerville.
This supplemental agreement is for the addition of the following items to be added to the scope of services for the project:  replacement of pump station flow meter;  installation of a flow control valve downstream; additions to the switchboard; addition of vibration transducers and switches to motors; replacement of additional yard piping and irrigation system replacement.  The original agreement for preliminary engineering services for the Pfennig pump station was approved by Council on October 22, 2013 in the amount of $38,543.  Supplement #1 was approved by Council on January 14, 2014 in the amount of $403,863.  This supplemental agreement #2 will bring the total for professional engineering services for the Pfennig pump station to $463,104.
The attached agreement has been reviewed and approved as to form by the City Attorney.
Status
Freese and Nichols has completed design plans for the Pfennig Pump Station Improvements and is preparing to bid the project in June. Pumps were bid for pre-purchase in February to keep the aggressive schedule of the project on track.
 
Projected Future City Council Action
Council consideration of a construction contract in the summer of 2014.
 
Fiscal Impact
This project is included in the approved Utility CIP for fiscal year 2014.
 
Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the agreement.
