Title
Approving the procurement of pump control actuators in the amount of $96,800, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
The City of Pflugerville’s current Lake Pump Station pump control valve actuators are well past their useful life. They were the original control valve actuators for the pump station when it was constructed in 2005. These actuators are critical to the proper operation of the pumps and to allow for all pumps to be used during the peak summer demands until the Surface Water Treatment Expansion project is completed. In the event of a failure of this aging critical infrastructure, the City would struggle to meet peak summer demand.
This purchase will be for replacement of two (2) of the actuators that are currently installed at the Lake Pump Station. While there are 3 actuators for the pump station, the City was able to negotiate a free replacement last year for one of the actuators after indicating that we were going to be looking into a different manufacturer of these actuators. Therefore, this purchase would only be for the remaining actuators that are at their end of life. As REXA is the sole source of this actuator, they have provided a sole source letter for this equipment and they have agreed to the City’s standard Purchasing Rider.
This procurement is critical to the City’s Strategic Plan in maintaining our infrastructure to ensure resiliency and operability at all times.
