Summary
The Pflugerville Community Development Corporation (PCDC) Board approved this Challenge Grant request from the MOMS Club of Pflugerville-NW at its February 15, 2011 meeting.  The mission of the MOMS Club of Pflugerville-NW is to provide a support network for stay-at-home mothers and their families.  The members of the MOMS Club have a commitment to build a better community and to participate in many service projects.  For this project, the MOMS Club will participate in conjunction with the City of Pflugerville Parks and Recreation Department to provide shade structures and park amenities at City parks.  The proposed project will provide shade to protect children and play structures from sun damage, thereby increasing the use of city parks during the summer. The Farmers' Market will also benefit from the proposed shade structure at Heritage Park.  Additional play elements for the parks included in the grant will add to the enjoyment of residents and visitors.  Heritage Park and Bohls Park are the two parks that have been selected for the first phase of the MOMS Club plan.

The total project budget is approximately $35,000.  The PCDC grant represents one-half of the budget.  It is proposed that the MOMS Club will contribute approximately $7,691.  The balance of the budget represents in-kind labor for installation that will be done by the Parks and Recreation Department.  The project will begin in the spring of 2011 and be complete by the spring of 2012
