Summary
Mr. George Hyde, City Attorney, has researched the legality of the use of Pflugerville's resources in connection with the elections for the Manville Water Supply Corporation Board of Directors. He has determined that the City of Pflugerville is a member of the Manville Water Supply Corporation, along with many residents of the city of Pflugerville and its extra-territorial jurisdiction. The city, along with its residents, has an interest in electing directors that are committed to responsible management, reasonable rates and reliable infrastructure in the provision of water from the Manville Water Supply Corporation. This resolution allows the use of city resources to support candidates in the Manville Water Supply Corporation Board of Directors election.
Deadline for City Council Action
Action is requested on February 12, 2013. The Manville ballots will be distributed in early March and approval this evening will allow time for staff to evaluate the candidates and election processes.
Fiscal Impact
Staff anticipates spending a maximum of $5,000 on this effort. Funds are available in the fiscal year 2013 Utility water operating budget.
