Discuss and consider approving the updated Water Master Plan and Wastewater Master Plan
Summary
This item has been included on the agenda to request approval and recommendation of the City’s proposed Water and Wastewater Master Plan updates. The overall goal for each plan is to develop a comprehensive Water Capital Improvements plan for the water distribution system and a Wastewater Capital Improvements Plan for the wastewater collection system.
The City has retained professional engineering services from Freese and Nichols to develop a Water Master Plan, Wastewater Master Plan, Water Impact Fee and Wastewater Impact Fee with the intent to determine an identified Master Servicing Area and System Optimization for the water and wastewater infrastructure.
City staff continues to support the goals for providing water distribution and storage and a wastewater conveyance system. Both master plans as proposed will confirm the operations of each system to enhance reliability, efficiency and capability to service existing and new customers well into the future.
Status
The proposed Water Master Plan and Wastewater Master Plan are considered complete and ready for adoption and implementation.

Action is requested on March 2, 2020.
Projected Future Action
An ordinance to adopt the Water Master Plan and Wastewater Master Plan and amend the 2030 Comprehensive Plan to include the updated Master Plans will be presented to Council for consideration at the March 10th meeting.

Staff Recommendation
Staff recommends approval of the Water Master Plan and Wastewater Master Plan update as prepared by FNI and inclusion of these elements into the 2030 Comprehensive Plan.
