Approving a purchase from WeBuildFun, Inc. to provide playground shade for 1849 Park in the amount of $79,739.75 through an existing cooperative purchasing agreement with Buyboard.
Summary
Shade extends the life of the playgrounds by up to 20% and they can make play safer, health-wise, for the participants. In an effort to provide shade for all playgrounds, the city provides shade to playgrounds every year. The two playgrounds at 1849 Park were built in 2018 without shade structures over them. The new proposed shade structure on the north side of the park will be 30ft. x 34ft.x12ft in height, and the shade structure on the south side of the park will be 36ft.x40ft.x12ft. The shade fabric colors will be olive fabric and the post color will be light ivory.
If approved, staff anticipates extended lead times beyond 14-week for shipping and 3-4 days per shade structure, for a timeframe on installation.
