Proclamation celebrating the 50th anniversary of the National Football Schoolboy Champions.

Summary
The football teams of Pflugerville High School from 1958 to 1962 were recognized at that time as the National Football Schoolboy Champions for winning 55 straight games.  The Class B Panthers won 55 consecutive games breaking the national winning streak record of 49 previously held by Class 4A Abilene High School.  During that incredible span, the Panthers scored 2,354 points while holding their opponents to 251.  Thirty of the victories were shutouts.  Johnson City's 21 points were the most ever scored on a group of youngsters who had gone through junior high and high school without ever having to deal with a defeat until Nov. 13, 1962.  With the stadium packed in Taylor,Texas and people standing 10-12 deep around the field, the streak ended with a 12-6 loss to Holland.

The community is invited to celebrate the history of Pflugerville athletics at the dedication of a Texas Historical Marker this Friday, October 12, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. at the Rock Gym, 700 West Pecan Street.
