Title
Approving an electrical easement to Oncor Electric Company for permanent power relocation associated with the Surface Water Treatment Plant Expansion Project, and authorizing the City Manager to execute the same.
Summary
As part of the Surface Water Treatment Plant Expansion project, the construction calls for the relocation of an existing transformer on the site as well as new primary feeders to be ran from the overhead lines on Weiss Lane and continue underground to terminate at the primary transformer. This utility extension is needed in order to facilitate the new electrical building to be energized and for power to be distributed throughout the facility as it comes online.
After much discussion with Oncor, the design engineer, and the general contractor for the project, the City was able to develop the easement requirements for the primary electrical feeders to be within an easement that will not be in conflict with any of the other underground infrastructure within the facility. This easement will allow Oncor to mobilize to the site and construct the primary electrical feeders during the off-peak demand season of the facility as it will require the facility to be without primary power for an extended duration. With the project continuing to push forward, this easement will allow the contractor to begin the process of installing necessary electric gear within the various new electrical buildings being constructed.
This easement will follow the City’s Strategic Goal of Infrastructure as it will allow the City to continue to push forward on the Surface Water Treatment Plant Expansion project to provide sufficient water to the City of Pflugerville by providing necessary primary power from the City’s electric provider.
