Approving the Assistant City Manager as an additional proxy to the Community Advancement Network (CAN) board of directors.
Summary
Community Advancement Network (CAN) is a partnership of government, non-profit, private and faith-based organizations who work together to enhance the social, health, educational and economic well-being of Central Texas. CAN provides a unique, collaborative forum to enhance awareness of issues, strengthen partnerships, connect efforts across issue areas, and facilitate development of collaborative strategies. The City of Pflugerville participates in CAN and has one council member on the CAN board of directors.
The CAN board of directors:
Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and purpose.
Approves the strategic direction of the organization and ensures effective organizational planning to achieve the CAN mission.
Selects the Executive Director and supports the Executive Director in fulfilling the CAN mission and role.
Approves the CAN budget, provides financial oversight and ensures there are adequate resources to implement the CAN mission.
Determines, monitors, and strengthens organizational programs and services.
Enhances the organization’s public standing.
Ensures legal and ethical integrity and maintains accountability.

Staff support is also available via proxy to attend meetings and this item is to amend the proxy to add the Assistant City Manager to the already appointed proxies of Deputy City Manager and the Planning & Development Services Director as needed.
CAN board of directors typically meets the second Friday of each month at 12:30pm.

Councilmember David Rogers currently serves on the CAN board of directors.

Fiscal Impact
The City of Pflugerville contributes $500.00 each year to CAN.
