Discuss and consider action regarding Oncor's expansion of electric services along Weiss Lane, Pecan Street and Pflugerville Parkway corridors.

Summary
In 2013, Council approved an ordinance granting Oncor Electric Delivery Company LLC, the right to construct, extend, maintain and operate within public rights of way. As growth continues, infrastructure to support the needs of the community is critical. In order to address the needs of the community, and in preparation for future development, Oncor is proposing new overhead utility lines on the west side of Weiss Lane from Kelly Lane to Pecan Street, along a portion of west Pecan Street and a portion of east Pflugerville Parkway. Due to the significant amount of infrastructure Oncor will be installing along these major corridors, this item is to ensure Council is aware of the project and steps the local utility is taking to ensure system capacity and reliability.

As requested by the City Council on March 22 from Oncor, the summaries of overhead versus underground installation are provided below. Please note that the overhead design is a finalized design estimate and the underground is a high level estimate. Thus, a define underground estimate that captures specific field conditions could lead to additional costs.

Overhead Design: $1.7M
Approximately 21,000FT** of new overhead facilities which includes wire, poles of various sizes and types, primary risers, and overhead switches. Includes re-conducting some spans of existing overhead facilities. All work performed in city rights of way.

Underground Design: Cost $10-$12M
Approximately 21,000FT** of underground facilities which includes conductor, concrete encased ductbank, a combination of manholes and pullboxes, primary risers, and pad mounted switchgears. May require the securitization of easements to accommodate pad mounted equipment.
