This item approves a three-year agreement with Ryan Sanders Sports Turf Services (RS3) for daily sports turf maintenance and specialized groundskeeping services associated with 1849 Park Phase 2, which includes two baseball fields, one softball field, and the event lawn. Year One funding is in the amount of $165,000.
Unlike rectangular athletic fields, baseball and softball facilities require intensive, sport-specific maintenance to ensure safe and high-quality playing conditions. These fields include skinned infields, pitcher’s mounds, warning tracks, base paths, and specialized turf areas that require routine dragging, conditioning, mound repair, painting, edging, irrigation monitoring, fertilization, aeration, and weed and insect control.
Under this agreement, RS3 will provide comprehensive services including:
· Routine mowing (minimum twice weekly, weather permitting)
· Irrigation system monitoring, adjustment, and minor repairs
· Fertilization (minimum nine applications per year based on soil testing)
· Aeration (twice annually)
· Pre-emergent and insect control applications
· Weekly lip work, mound maintenance, warning track grooming, and edging
· Daily infield dragging and dirt conditioning
· Field painting for scheduled games
· Top dressing and ongoing turf health management
· Monthly reporting, including fertilizer and chemical logs
