Approving an application from MetLife for dental insurance and authorizing the City Manager to execute the agreement.
Summary
As required by Chapter 252 of the Texas Local Government code, and to ensure the City and its employees receive competitive rates and quality services, the City has worked closely with HUB International (HUB), to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) and to select the best provider for plan year 2024. A summary presentation regarding the RFP is attached.
Following the release of the RFP, the City received six proposals for dental insurance, two of which were selected as finalists. MetLife was identified as the top proposal due to its robust network of providers and 9.8% decrease in cost.
Prior City Council Action
The City Council approved the contract for 2023 benefits on October 26, 2021, including dental insurance through Cigna. The dental contract with Cigna is expiring January 1, 2024.
