Summary
In February 2010, the Public Information Officer attended the Texas Leadership Institute's "When Hollywood Comes to Town" workshop as one of the requirements for Film Friendly designation through the Texas Film Commission. Since then, a photographer was hired to take pictures of Pflugerville and create panoramic pictures of areas of potential interest for commercials, television shows and movies. Being a Film Friendly City encourages movie productions to film in Pflugerville. Pflugerville will receive recognition on the Texas Film Commission website which is viewed by filming scouts. The filming industry can lead to tourism and revenue for the City. Pflugerville has already been the site of several movies and the Film Friendly designation will help Pflugerville further market itself to the film industry. The Film Friendly designation tells the movie studios and film crews that Pflugerville is ready for them to visit.
The final requirement to secure Pflugerville's Film Friendly designation is to approve the Filming Policy for Pflugerville that has already been approved and reviewed by the Texas Film Commission.
The City Attorney has reviewed the Filming Policy for Pflugerville.
Status
After the Filming Policy is approved the Texas Film Commission will attend the November 23 Council Meeting and present Pflugerville with Film Friendly status.
Prior City Council Action
On March 9, 2010 the City Council agreed for the Public Information Officer to further pursue the Film Friendly Designation.
